A Royal Protectorate of His Majesty, The Omukama, Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom.
The Ecclesiastical Order of the Eteku, which is also known as The Ecclesiastical Order of the Orange Bishop Weaver* is an authorized modern-day revival of what was originally a Royal Order of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom – The Royal Order of the Eteku, and was established/founded by His Majesty, The Omukama, Chwa II Kabalega, sometime around 1877, on the occasion, it is believed, of the arrival of Christian missionaries in the Kingdom of Bunyoro – Kitara. There is no official record or literature to tell us about those early days as records were traditionally oral histories passed down from person to person.
The Royal Order of the Eteku was later removed from the Honor System of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom around 1899, when the English first came to the Kingdom as a Colonial Power. And so the Royal Order lay dormant until it was gifted/transferred to His Beatitude, Mor Cherubim Abu–Seifein Akiiki, the Abuna, Catholicos, and Patriarch of the Patriarchate of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom, by His Majesty, The Omukama, Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the grandson of His Majesty, The Omukama, Chwa II Kabalega, on 27 February 2019, to be revived and established as an Ecclesiastical Order of Merit, to be awarded to dedicated supporters of the Banyoro people and the Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom.
The Office of the Abuna, Catholicos, and Patriarch has exercised prudence in the establishment of this webpage, as He has revised the Orders’ statutes, re-imagined the insignia and regalia of the Order, and established a dialogue with Unique Jewelry and Regalia, Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom’s official regalia producer in order to fashion the Orders’ chivalric jewel.
His Beatitude desired to make certain that plans were carried out that would bring honor to the Order, His Majesty, The Omukama, and the Kingdom.
The Ecclesiastical Order of the Eteku is recognized and registered with the Royal Office of Orders, Honors and Awards Affairs of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom, and enjoys a Fraternal Order Community relationship with the Most Honorable Order of the Omukama Chwa II Kabalega.
The Ecclesiastical Order of the Eteku has a single (1) grade: Member of the Order. Recipients of the award are called singularly and collectively Abakungu okusemera omu Eteku (roughly, chiefs worthy to be in Orange Bishop Weaver), who are entitled to display the breast star of the Order.
Membership in the Order is for those men and women of good character, who are willing to be enthusiastically supportive of the works of The Kingdom of Bunyoro – Kitara, The Royal Family, The Royal Institutions, and The Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom.
There is a non-refundable passage fee of 400.00 USD which will include a brevet, as well as an annual oblation to the Order of 50.00 USD.
